Yelena Etaryan
Head of the Chair of German Language at the BSUIn 2022 Yelena Etaryan defended her doctoral thesis, earning her Doctorate in Philological Sciences. From 2022 to 2024 she studied for a Master's in "Science Management" at the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer and received a Master’s degree in Public Administration.
She teaches "Stylistics of the German Language," "Hermeneutics," "Theory of Translation," "Methods of Literary and Cultural Analysis," "German-Language Literature" and practical German (B1–C1).
She is the author of over 60 scientific articles published in Armenian and international journals, including in Scopus and Web of Science.
Mrs. Etaryan has completed professional training at universities in Jena, Mainz, Düsseldorf, Göttingen, Heidelberg, and Halle-Wittenberg. She is a DAAD, KAAD, and Alexander von Humboldt Foundation scholar.
Since 2022 she has been a member of the specialized council 066 "Foreign Literature" and the chair of the Qualification Examination Committee for Ph.D. students in "Foreign Literature."
She conducts methodological training courses for German language teachers and has chaired and served on final examination committees at Yerevan State University.
Yelena Etaryan has reviewed scientific articles, supervised, and served as an opponent for dissertations and has advised many bachelor's and master's theses.
She has presented at international conferences in Germany, Austria, Hungary, China, Georgia and Italy, has attended numerous professional development courses in Armenia and abroad.
Her academic interests include:
- German-language literature (20th–21st centuries),
- Literature in foreign language classes,
- Stylistics of the German language,
- Translation theory,
- Comparative studies in linguo-cultural and literary disciplines.
Yelena Etaryan is the Vice-President of the Armenian Association of Scholars of German-Speaking Countries (AADL), a member of the KAAD (Catholic Academic Foreign Service) selection committee, a member of the Armenian Association of German Teachers (ADV) and the International Association of German Studies (IVG).
She is also responsible for the Erasmus+ (KA 171) mobility program in partnership with the Institute of German Studies at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf.
