ORCID (OPEN RESEARCHER AND CONTRIBUTOR ID) SEMINAR

31st of March,  Yerevan, Armenia

On March 31, 2022, in framework of the ERASMUS+ CBHE MINERVA project - “Strengthening research management and open science capacities of HEIs in Moldova and Armenia” at the Brusov State University was held a seminar "Open Researcher and Contributor ID" (ORCID).

The training was held by Armine Vardanyan, head of the Department of Electronic Information.

The following items were considered at the seminar:

  1. How to register for an ORCID.
  2. How to fill up personal data.
  3. How to enter the articles into the database.
  4. How to generate ORCID with the international scientometric platforms.

The specific objective of such workshops is the personal development of researchers and leading to the Strengthening Research Management and Open Science capacities of Armenian HEIs.

Тhe seminar was attended by lecturers and scientists of the university.

Upon the completion of the seminar all the participants were offered an opportunity to practice the new skills and enter the identifier (ORCID).

 

MINERVA SIXTH CONSORTIUM MEETING

1 of April, online

The 6th WP7 consortium meeting was held online, on April 1, 2022 within the framework of the international program ERASMUS + MINERVA (MINERVA- Strengthening Research Management and Open Science Capacities of HEIs in Moldova and Armenia). Brusov State University (BSU) MINERVA working group members were participating at this meeting among other partners.

During the meeting, the partner universities of the program, including BSU, presented the results, achieved in 2021 according to Operational plan. The BSU coordinator A.Chulyan presented the achievements in MINERVA project implemented by the university.

 

PRACTICAL SEMINAR ON "MODERN SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION DATABASES -

SCIENTIFIC ELECTRONIC SOURCES"

22 of April, Yerevan, Armenia

A practical seminar on "Modern Scientific Databases - Scientific Electronic Sources" was held on April 22 at the BSU Library within the framework of the "National Library Week". The seminar was conducted by Armine Vardanyan, Head of Electronic Information Department.
During the seminar, the participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with modern scientific databases, and the electronic sources which are available in the BSU library. They studied Zotero and Mendeley research programs. The particular attention was paid to the ORCID - international register of unique identifiers for researchers and scholars scientists, its purpose and advantages.
The seminar was attended by BSU lecturers, applicants and students.
It was an interactive seminar with the exchange of ideas.

 

WEBINAR ON RESEARCH MANAGEMENT (ORCID)

FOR THE NATIONAL LIBRARY

On April 25, the National Library organized the webinar on "Research Management" (ORCID) as a part of the "National Library Week".
The webinar was open and accessible to everyone. Among the participants were employees of some Armenian libraries.


During the webinar the participants learned everything about ORCID, its advantages, entered personal data and works.
The webinar was conducted by V. Armine Vardanyan, Head of the electronic information Department of BSU.

 

PRACTICAL SEMINAR

«RESEARCH MANAGEMENT/ "ORCID"»

28 of April, Yerevan, Armenia

On April 28, 2022, in framework of the MINERVA project - “Strengthening research management and open science capacities of HEIs in Moldova and Armenia” at the Brusov State University was held a seminar “Research management / "ORCID"”.

The ORCID system with its advantages and features was presented during the seminar. The participants got acquainted with the registration process, entering personal data, works publishing, generation of ORCID identifier on international scientific rating platforms.

The seminar was attended by the professor staff of BSU.

The seminar was held by Armine Vardanyan, Head of the Department of Electronic Information of the BSU Library.

 

MINERVA MONITORING VISIT 

15 of June, Yerevan, Armenia

In framework of the MINERVA project - “Strengthening research management and open science capacities of HEIs in Moldova and Armenia” have been conducted the monitoring visit to Brusov State University - partner university from Armenia, on June 15, 2022.

The monitoring team will consist from Rodica Crudu - MINERVA project manager and Anna Madan - MINERVA financial manager.

The visit was targeted at verifying the results of the work done within the frames of Minerva project, deliverables and challenges. The future plans have also been discussed.

 

ORIENTATION SESSIONS WITHIN THE MINERVA INTERNATIONAL PROJECT

In 2021-2022 within the framework of the MINERVA international project ("Strengthening Research Management and Open Science Capacities of HEIs in Moldova and Armenia") Brusov State University (BSU) held a number of events and activities, including orientation sessions in the field of scientific research for students, young researchers and teachers and other stakeholders of academic and scientific-research community. During orientation sessions the participants had the opportunity to get useful information and enrich their knowledge in the field of scientific research field, which also covered the topics on open science, academic integrity, copyright, conduction of research, preparation of research papers, etc.

The orientation sessions were also aimed at supporting and orienting students and young research towards scientific research. The meetings were organized and conducted by the BSU MINERVA working group members, particularly by the BSU Library and Quality Assurance Center.

 

TWO DAY TRAINING ON DSPACE

27-28 of June, Yerevan, Armenia

On June 27 and 28, 2022, in framework of the MINERVA project - "Strengthening research management and open science capacities of HEIs in Moldova and Armenia" at the Brusov State University was held a two day training on DSpace.

During the training, participants explored the features of the DSpace program and functions, how to create collections, enter metadata, learning resources available via the DSpace website, etc. The participants shared their experience with the works already done.

The training was held by Laurie Alvandyan, librarian from the National library of Armenia.

 

TWO DAY SCIENTIFIC AND METHODOLOGICAL SEMINAR "HOW TO WRITE A GRADUATION PAPER" AND "REQUIREMENTS FOR A SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE"

01 and 02 of March, Yerevan, Armenia 

On March 01 and 02, 2022, in framework of the MINERVA project - “Strengthening research management and open science capacities of HEIs in Moldova and Armenia” at the Brusov State University was held a two day scientific and methodological seminar on "How to Write a Graduation Paper" and "Requirements for a Scientific Article".

The seminar was attended by more than 60 second and third year students (Faculties: RFL, EPP, TIC, SSS) and young lecturers. The speaker presented the main principles of the scientific research and answered the questions. The attendees hope that such meetings would be long-lasting.

The seminar was held by Head of the Chair of English at BSU, Doctor of Sciences, Professor Gayane Yeghiazaryan.

 

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE "WORLD TREASURY OF MOTHER TONGUES: NOURISH AND CHERISH. NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CONTEXT, POLICIES AND PRACTICES TO PRESERVE INDIGENOUS LANGUAGES"

5-7 July, Moscow, Russian Federation

From July 5-7, Anna Chulyan, Director of the National Library of Armenia and BSU Minerva Coordinator, participated in the conference "World Treasury of Mother Tongues: Nourish and Cherish. National and International Context, Policies and Practices to Preserve Indigenous Languages," in Moscow, Russian Federation. Her presentation, titled "Introducing the Armenian Language into Cyberspace: Modern Technologies of Armenian Text Recognition," discussed the pillars of Open Science and their relationship to OCR (Optical Character Recognition), and the significance of the establishment of OCR for the Armenian language in the context of support for Open Science development, scholarly research, and the knowledge economy in Armenia.

The presentation supports the work of the Erasmus+ Minerva project in Armenia, "Strengthening Research Management and Open Science Capacities of HEIs in Moldova and Armenia, 2019-2023." The National Library of Armenia is the Associated Partner of the project to support the aim of the MINERVA: to develop conditions for the implementation of the core principles of Open Science at universities in Armenia. 

The conference was held within the framework of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages and UNESCO Information for All Programme Languages in Cyberspace and Access to Information. 

EDUCATIONAL MEETING TO COTE D'AZUR UNIVERSITY WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE "MINERVA" PROJECT

19-20 September, Nice, France

From September 19 to 20 of this year (2022), within the framework of the EU "Erasmus+" HG2 project "MINERVA" ("Strengthening the capacities of research management and open science in the universities of Moldova and Armenia"), an educational visit was organized by the French University of Cote d'Azur in the city of Nice, where the representatives of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Moldova were participating. During the educational visit, the head of the science department N. Navasardyan and the head of the financial department H. Ghazaryan participated from Brusov State University.

During the educational visit, the staff of the University of Côte d'Azur specifically presented the current problems and challenges of ‘Open Science’, the best practices for scientific research in higher education, doctoral education, innovation and accessible science in Europe. The presented issues gave the participants an opportunity to get acquainted with the policy issues, development trends and perspectives of public science in the European higher education and research area.

One of the purposes (objectives) of the educational visit was also the evaluation of the results of the "MINERVA" project, the discussion of the current work on the implementation of strategies and the processing of a sustainable development plan.

The meeting concluded with the discussions of the management issues of the "MINERVA" project, as well as with the effective launch and sustainable development of the project at the beneficiary universities in the context of new European research initiatives, including the prospects for possible new collaborations and projects with EU partners.

INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON OPEN SCIENCE AND RESEARCH MANAGEMENT

29-30 September, Yerevan, Armenia

Knowledge management, accessible science: Three meetings were organized within the framework of "Minerva" project, where the representatives from the Academy of Economic Sciences of Moldova, State Medical and Pharmaceutical, Technical universities, the Council of Rectors of the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Education and Research, as well as from Yerevan Mkhitar Heratsi PBU, ASUE (Armenian State University of Economics), YSU (Yerevan State University), BSU (Brusov State University), the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Armenia, the universities of Liège (Belgium), Guglielmo Marconi (Italy), Valencia (Spain), Cote Azur (France) and Montpellier (France).

The meeting launched with the discussion of the "National and Institutional Open Science Policies and Strategies": "Opportunities and Challenges for the Implementation of the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science" and the Open Science European Cloud Domain and the European University Association Open Science 2025.

The discussed issues were also related to existing initiatives, opportunities and gaps in public science capacity program, as well as the public science education and research systems that support and develop public science skills.

The other important issues were the improvements of the open access journals and repositories, research databases, and the implementation of research data management services in libraries.

The meetings were conducted by Irina Kuchma (EIFL, coordinator) and Olesya Sirbu (MINERVA, coordinator).

INFORMATIVE VISIT TO GUGLIELMO MARCONI UNIVERSITY

October 18-20, Rome, Italy

From October 18 to 20 (2022), within the framework of the EU Erasmus+ project "MINERVA" program ("Strengthening of research management and open science capacities in universities of Moldova and Armenia") an informative visit to Guglielmo Marconi University (Rome, Italy) was organized.  A. Chulyan, the coordinator of the "MINERVA" project, the director of the National Library of Armenia and A. Shahinyan, the member of the "MINERVA" project of BSU, the temporary official of the head of the Quality Assurance Center of BSU also took part in the informative visit.

One of the goals of the visit was to present the examples of the European best practices within the framework of open science to the partner universities of the project and to introduce to the meeting participants to the laboratories and technologies of Guglielmo Marconi University, the use of which contributes to the application of the open science principles and the innovation of the university. During the meeting, the participants asked questions to the European partners who presented the report and discussed with the project coordinators the planned, completed and the current works of the project according to the relevant work packages.

INFORMATIVE VISIT TO UNIVERSITY OF MONTPELLIER

October 23-27, France

From October 23 to 27 (2022), within the framework of the "MINERVA" program of the EU Erasmus+ project ("Strengthening of research management and open science capacities in the universities of Moldova and Armenia") an informative visit was organized at the University of Montpellier (France). The visit was dedicated to the issues of management and sustainable development of the open science and research. A. Chulyan, the coordinator of the "MINERVA" project of Brusov State University, also took part in the informative visit.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce the partner universities to the best practices available in France within the framework of accessible science. Particularly, the role and the importance of libraries in the development of accessible science, the experience of developing and applying the accessible science strategy of the University of Montpellier were presented. One of the key focuses of the informative visit was the application of the innovative approaches in the field of open science, including the active involvement and the role of the public in the use of the open data and the popularization of science, as well as the sustainable development of the field of open science.

 

INFORMATIVE VISIT TO UNIVERSITY OF LIÈGE

November 7-11, Liège, Belgium

From November 7 to 11 (2022), within the framework of the EU "Erasmus+" HG2 project "MINERVA" ("Strengthening the capacities of research management and open science in the universities of Moldova and Armenia"), a five-day informative visit took place at the University of Liège, Kingdom of Belgium, in which representatives of both the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Moldova participated in the program.

Bela Margaryan, the vice-rector of the academic affairs, Anna Yeghiazaryan, the coordinator of post-university education of the science department, Liana Safaryan, the head of the library, and Anna Chulyan, the coordinator of the "MINERVA" program, participated in the informative visit from Brusov State University of Armenia.

During the informative visit, the participants presented to the partner universities of the project the examples of European best practices in the framework of open science, including the prospects for the development of the field of open science in the Kingdom of Belgium, all partner universities had the opportunity to have individual meetings with EURAXESS (https://euraxess.ec.europa. eu/) with the expert Isabelle Hallo in order to obtain the label of scientific excellence in HR, specifically to analyze the BSU process of HR Strategy Development for Researchers (HRS4R). During the study visit at the University of Liège programs for the development of professional and management skills were presented.

Within the framework of the visit, the participants of the project discussed their completed and ongoing works.

MINERVA FINAL MANAGEMENT MEETING AND CONFERENCE TOOK PLACE IN MOLDOVA

November 30 - December 3, Chisinau, Moldova

From November 30 to December 3 (2022), a final meeting and conference was held in Chisinau (Republic of Moldova), within the framework of the EU "Erasmus+" HG2 project "MINERVA" ("Strengthening of research management and open science capacities in the universities of Moldova and Armenia").

The purpose of the meeting was to participate in the final conference of the project and the last meeting of the consortium of partner universities in order to present the works and results carried out during the project.

During the final conference of the project, partner universities  and representatives of the ministries of Moldova and Armenia presented the works carried out within the framework of the project, pointing out all the difficulties, results and achievements. During the consortium meeting, the partner universities presented the requirements of the final reports of the project, the timelines of the final results and the final calculation to be implemented by each university.

Liana Safaryan, the head of the library and Anna Chulyan, the coordinator of the "MINERVA" program, participated from Brusov State University of Armenia.
