The above webinar was conducted on 30th October 2024. The webinar brought together scholars from both the countries in the areas of social sciences and humanities to share research on promotion and preservation of Indigenous languages, digitalization of cultural heritage.

In his opening remarks, Prof. J. Prabhakar Rao, University of Hyderabad, India mentioned the scope of the research and cooperation interests between Armenian and Indian scientists, focusing on multilingualism through the promotion of minority languages, Literary narratives, History and Sociolinguistics.

Prof. Gayane Hovhannisyan, Brusov State University, Yerevan highlighted the importance of multilingual science worldwide and the role of translation and unified terminology in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Speaking on Human Rights, safeguarding cultural memories, genocide and vulnerability issues Prof. Pramod Nayar, University of Hyderabad, India has requested assistance with the provision of books and memoirs about the Armenian genocide. He also mentioned documents of the Armenian College and printing in India.

Dr. Anna Chulyan, Director of National Library of Armenia has made a detailed presentation on publication of Armenian text in India and also resources that might be interesting for Indian colleagues.  She has mentioned about the importance of the protection of Armenian Heritage in India and around the world, in the current geopolitical climate.

Prof. Arulmozi Selvaraj, University of Hyderabad, India presented the work on documenting indigenous languages in India, and professional translation of cultural concepts and units of knowledge for open access.

Dr. Hamest Tamrazyan elaborated on the digitalization aspects, translation and precision of Cultural Knowledge Organization. She shared her practice and experience in digitalization of endangered Armenian epigraphic heritage in Ukraine and Nagorno Karabakh and integration into the global Linked Open Data of Simple Knowledge Organization Systems.

The final presentation was jointly made by Prof. J. Prabhakar Rao and Prof. Siva Prasad Rambhatla, University of Hyderabad, India mentioned elaborately on the use of AI for protecting multilingualism and multiculturalism. They also talked about the role of Indigenous Knowledges in building local AIs for effectively solving problems in the areas like healthcare and agriculture etc.

It was decided at the end of the webinar that the participants will focus on Language and endangered cultural heritage documentation and digitalization, as well as educational and scientific association, exchange of lecturers, organization of conferences and joint projects. In this context, it was proposed to have another webinar soon.
