As the first foreign language Chair of BSU, the Chair of German was founded in 1936 (the Institute of Foreign Languages at that time). In 1938, the first graduates of the two-year German language course graduated from the chair. At that time, the main mission of the chair was to train German language teachers for the Republic of Armenia.
