On 6-8 October 2016, it was held the XV international conference on “Brusov Readings-2016” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the publication of the anthology of “Armenian Poetry”. The conference was initiated by Yerevan Brusov State University of Languages and Social Sciences (YSULS) with the support of the State Committee of Science of RA MoES, the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Yerevan, the of Armenians of Russia, YSULS Graduates Association and “Antares” Holding.
A number of outstanding scientists and young specialists from 9 countries – Armenia, Russia (about 10 cities), Ukraine, the USA, Japan, Georgia, France, Czech Republic and Poland participated in the conference. In the course of the opening ceremony Gayane Gasparyan, the YSULS rector, RA Ministry of Education and Science, RA Ministry of Culture, as well as the Embassy of Russian Federation in Armenia, the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Yerevan and the of Armenians of Russia addressed the audience.
S. Gindin, a distinguished scientist, Professor at Russian State University for the Humanities, opened the plenary session. The following events were planned to hold within the framework of the conference: scientific reports, presentation of the facsimile publication of the anthology of “The Armenian Poetry from the Ancient Times till Nowadays”, the official site of the Brusov Science Center, as well as concert and tour programs. The participants of the conference visited the House-Museum of Martiros Saryan, the Memorial Complex dedicated to the Armenian Genocide in 1915, and Oshakan (within the framework of the celebration of the Holy Translators’ Day on 8 October, the guests visited Mesrop Mashtots’s grave).
The “Brusov Readings” have been traditionally holding more than 50 years. The first “Readings” were held in 1962, and since then the conference has been organized both in Armenia where the “Brusov Scientific Center” has been established and still functions (in YSULS), and in Russia. The “Readings” have been traditionally arranged on the occasion of the anniversary dates. This year the celebration is crucial not only from the viewpoint of Brusov activities but also from the perspective of the history of Armenians. Particularly, the publication of the anthology of the voluminous work titled “The Armenian Poetry from the Ancient Times till Nowadays” is meant. Brusov was the first to take the utmost responsibility to unveil the whole richness, unique charm, beauty and diversity of the Armenian multi-centennial poetry. The anthology was published in 1916. The presentation of the anthology was made within the frames of the conference. 9 working sessions were planned generally planned to carry out in the following directions:
